Poll Watch: Winthrop/ETV South Carolina GOP Primary

 Rudy Giuliani leads the race for the 2008 South Carolina Republican primary with a four percent edge over John McCain, according to a new poll from Winthrop University and ETV.

South Carolina is an open registration state, thus allowing independent voters to participate in the nomination process.

Poll was conducted among 670 randomly selected registered voters from May 16-27 in South Carolina, and has a margin of error of plus/minus 3.79 percent.  All but the last three days of polling were conducted prior to the announced immigration bill.  The sample was 82 percent white, 17 percent non-white.  56 percent of the sample was female, 44 percent male.
